Lonestar Basset Hound Rescue has been serving the needs of needy basset hounds in the Houston area since 1999.  These dedicated basset lovers generously devote their time to help find loving homes for bassets in our area.  Check out their website.  There are many bassets available and lot’s of photos of their fundraising activities. 
Second Chance Pets  is a nonprofit animal welfare organization dedicated to providing stray and unwanted pets a second chance through foster care and pet adoption programs. SCP operates in the Clear Lake area but does not have a shelter or an office location.  Animals are fostered and loved in volunteer homes until a permanent home is found.
Houston Collie Rescue is a new collie rescue group forming in Houston for collies in need of help.
Dachshund Rescue of Houston   Dachshund Rescue of Houston has one sole purpose:  to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home Dachshunds in need of a second chance at life and love.  We rescue purebred (and a few mixed) dachshunds from pounds and shelters.
German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Houston  Our mission is to protect, adopt out, and care for and keep German Shepherd Dogs safe from harm whenever possible.
Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue  The Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue is your centralized source of information for rescued Great Pyrenees dogs available for adoption within the Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston and Texas Gulf Coast regions.  We have over 25 active, committed volunteers rescuing, fostering and placing Great Pyrenees in Texas and can usually respond to information requests within a twenty-four hour period.
Golden Beginnings of Texas  Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever Rescue is a non-profit organization devoted to providing rescue and necessary veterinary medical care for unwanted, neglected, abused, homeless, and displaced Golden Retrievers.  We strive to place our Goldens in adoptive homes where they will receive a lifetime of love.
Houston Sheltie Sanctuary is a non-profit organization comprised of volunteers who give of their time, their efforts, and their homes to help place Shelties where they will be loved and well cared for.
Recycled Canines Dalmatian Rescue is a nonprofit rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of the many homeless Dalmatians in Texas.  Our mission is to take dogs from shelters, as strays, or from owners that can no longer care for them and provide them with shelter, food, water, medical care including vaccinations, training and socialization, plus lots of TLC. Once we deem the dog ready for a new home, we seek permanent homes for our dogs with people that have been screened for eligibility. All dogs are sterilized before leaving our rescue and temperament ed.
Finally Home Pet Rescue is a non-profit animal welfare organization founded in January 2002.  FHPR's mission is to provide an avenue for stray and unwanted pets for the (Houston) Clear Lake area to find refuge, medical attention, and eventually adoption into new loving permanent homes.
Whiskerville Animal Sanctuary, Inc. is a non-profit organization (pending) formed in February 2000.  One of our main goals is to end the needless suffering of stray animals (predominately cats & dogs) in our communities by getting them off the streets, getting them healthy, and finding good homes for them.
Husky Haven helps needy Siberian Huskies in the Houston area find loving homes.  Dogs are available for immediate adoption and foster homes are needed.

Cocker Spaniel Rescue of East Texas has cockers in all ages, sizes and colors looking for forever homes.  Occasionally, we have puppies also.  If you have a place in your home and heart for one of these charming cockers, please give us a call on our hotline.  We are always in need of foster homes, so if you would like to join our family of volunteers, please give us a call.  We are a group of approximately 20 families who have formed a unique bond all because of our common love for Cockers.
Houston Area Doberman Rescue (HADR) is a not-for-profit volunteer-based organization. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and place purebred Doberman Pinschers in responsible and caring homes in addition to providing a resource for public education on the breed and responsible dog ownership.
Artwork donated by Lori Bush© Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston, Inc. is an all-volunteer, donation-sponsored, non-profit organization dedicated to the overwhelming task of saving the lives of abused, abandoned and unwanted Miniature Schnauzers, who have lost their homes, for one reason or another.  Our goal is that any Miniature Schnauzer coming through our organization will never again have to face being on the streets, in a shelter, or any other dangerous situation, but will live a safe, loving and secure life in their new "forever" home.

Houston Pekingese Rescue exists to rescue Pekingese from Kill shelters, abuse situation, and voluntary surrenders (on a space available basis).  Houston Pekingese Rescue places these Pekes in Foster Homes until forever homes can be found and ensure each Pekingese is healthy, spayed, neutered, and up-to-date on all routine vaccinations.  This is a non-profit organization and 100% of all donations go to help the rescue dogs. 

Southeast Texas Labrador Retriever Rescue's Mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home neglected, abused and unwanted Labrador Retrievers throughout the Southeast Texas Region including Houston and the surrounding areas.

Houston Beagle and Hound Rescue, Inc. (HBHR) is a non-profit 501-(c)-3, all-volunteer organization dedicated to beagle and houd rescue.  We are a small group of volunteers who foster dogs in our homes.  There is no shelter facility.  We provide placement assistance to shelters and individuals who need to find homes for hounds which, for varioius reasons, have become stray or homeless.
